The Brief
Lucy's Victorian semi had the classic side-return problem — a narrow passage running alongside the kitchen that was too small to use but too valuable to ignore. Incorporating it into the ground floor meant structural work, a new roof over the extended area, and a full kitchen refit to make the most of the new footprint. Done properly, it would transform the house.
